SunCap Property Group has begun construction of a 60,000-square-foot office building in the Gilbert Spectrum Business Park in Gilbert, Arizona.
This is the first of several planned buildings that SunCap is offering in the 63-acre park, located at the southwest corner of Elliot and McQueen roads. A total of 800,000 square feet of state-of-the-art office, flex-industrial and technology-related space is planned in eight to 10 buildings. Buildings range in size from 60,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet.

Gilbert is about 30 miles from downtown Phoenix and offers a snowbird-friendly suburban haven of dry climate with golf courses and country clubs, while year-round residents stay for the top-rated school district. The 2010 census showed that the town’s population expanded dramatically over the three decades: from 5,717 in 1980 to 208,453 in 2010.
Local employers include GoDaddy and PetSmart, and other top employers are those award-winning public schools as well as health care. This 2,340-square-foot, three-bedroom, three-bath house, priced slightly under the local median at $315,000, has a private, landscaped back yard with covered patio and built-in barbecue. Over the next five years, the number of households in 85297 is predicted to increase by 15.9 percent.
Orbital announced today that it is adding 60,000 square feet and 155 engineering jobs to its satellite manufacturing facility in Gilbert.
The new jobs being added, which up Orbital’s Arizona workforce by almost 10 percent, pay an average of more than $100,000 in individual salary — more than double the Maricopa County median family income. The multiplier effect from adding this caliber of jobs is significantly higher than most workforce additions.
