Phoenix, February 9, 2017 – Colliers International in Greater Phoenix has completed the sale of a multifamily portfolio comprised of Argenta Apartments and Verona Apartments in the growing East Valley submarket.
A new soccer stadium near the Loop 101 and Loop 202 interchange could help transform the area into the Phoenix-area’s newest top-tier sports and entertainment hub, bringing much-welcomed revenue to nearby businesses and cities.
Mesa is seeing “explosive growth” in population and new development as the city — already Arizona’s third-largest and No. 38 in the nation — approaches half a million residents, Mesa Mayor John Giles said Tuesday during his annual State of the City address.
After a delay of a few months, initial work on the segment began in October, most of it involving preparation work along the road, including some demolition and relocation of lighting, said Jodi Sorrel, Mesa’s transit director. Completion of the project is expected in about two years.
The ASU Research Park has a $1.4 billion economic impact and the companies at the R&D and business park generate more than 16,100 jobs. That is according to a new economic impact report by Arizona State University’sW.P. Carey School of Business.
The 320-acre research park has 51 tenants including Amazon, Avnet, GoDaddy, Iridium and Amkor Technology. There are also ASU electronics and solar research groups at the park located at the Loop 101 freeway and Warner Road in Tempe. Tenants at the park employ 6,000 workers.
Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport will begin offering international flights for the first time. The East Valley regional airport landed a deal with NewLeaf Travel Co. to offer flights to Canada. Three weekly nonstop flights will be available to Calgary, Alberta, and one weekly nonstop flight will be available to Edmonton, Alberta.

LGE Design Build started construction on a new 33,000-square-foot distribution center for WireMasters, a distributor of wire, cable and associated electrical components for cable harnesses serving the military, aerospace and defense industry.
The new distribution center, expected to be complete in early 2017, will serve the southwestern United States. Located at 1748 N. Higley Rd. in Mesa, the building will be near Boeing and other clients at Falcon Field Airport.
